Usually plated jewellery is 'electroplated' and this plating wears off over time.  PVD stands for physical vapour deposition.  PVD is a specialised, environmentally friendly coating process that vaporises solid materials in a vacuum chamber, depositing them atom-by-atom onto surfaces like stainless steel, titanium, or brass.  This results in an extremely durable, corrosion-resistant, and thin-film finish, often used for luxury, decorative, and industrial purposes.

PVD plated jewellery has excellent hardness and scratch-resistance properties and is highly resistant to wear from sweat, perfume, and other things that may come into contact with the piece of jewellery.
